Hawthorn champion Luke Hodge has revealed he will retire from footy at the end of this season.

Hodge made the announcement in the lead up to his 300th AFL match against Geelong at the MCG on Saturday.

The 33-year-old is one of the most decorated players in Hawthorn’s history, with four premierships (three as captain), two Norm Smith Medals, three All-Australian jumpers and two club champion awards to his credit.

Hodge is just one of three players in history to have won two Norm Smith Medals, the others being fellow Hawthorn champion Gary Ayers and Adelaide superstar Andrew McLeod.

The former No.1 draft pick has also kicked 192 goals from 299 games with the Hawks.

Hodge will become just the 82nd player in history to play 300 games this week and just the eighth player to reach the milestone at Hawthorn.
