Carlton captain Marc Murphy will miss around four weeks after injuring his foot.

Murphy was withdrawn from the clash with North Melbourne moments before the bounce thanks to a foot injury in the warm-up, with Nick Graham rushed into the side.

Scans have revealed he has damaged his plantar fascia, with Carlton head of football Andrew McKay tipping he'll be out for another month.

"Scans have revealed he's done some damage to his plantar fascia, which is the material that runs along the bottom of the foot," he told Carlton's website.

"The doctors are saying he'll be out for the next four weeks, which is really unfortunate for us and Marc, but it gives someone else an opportunity to fill that spot."

Patrick Cripps, who skippered on Saturday night, will likely captain the side in Murphy's absence.

Should the premiership cup be named after someone? Triple M's Wayne Carey has suggested naming it after one of the AFL's biggest legends.
