Carlton skipper Marc Murphy will be sidelined with a further tear of the plantar fascia in his foot.

Murphy went in for scans on Friday which revealed he'd suffered even more damage to the previous injury.

The club expects him to miss three to four weeks.

"Clearly this is a disappointing outcome for Marc and the club," Carlton head of football Andrew McKay said.

"There was swelling in the area and as such, we had to let it settle before we could assess it properly. Scans last night have revealed the tear in the fascia and the surrounding scar tissue.

"He will ease back into the training program and we expect him to be available in three to four weeks."
