Western Bulldogs key defender Marcus Adams has signed a new three-year deal that ties him to the club until the end of 2020.

After starting his debut season with the Dogs in blistering fashion last year, the mature-age recruit suffered a foot stress fracture midway through 2016 and missed out on the club’s historic premiership.

Adams wanted to return back to his native WA during last year’s trade period due to personal reasons, but a deal couldn’t be facilitated.

However, after playing nine of a possible 10 games so far this year, the 23-year-old has now committed his long-term future to the Bulldogs.

“It’s great to be able to extend my contract at the Bulldogs, and I’m looking forward to improving with every season,” Adams said.

“Last year was a great experience for me to play the games I did. It was frustrating to deal with the injuries I had, but I took a lot out of the season.

“I want to establish myself in this team, and do whatever I can to help the team achieve success.”

Adams has played 20 games since being taken with pick 35 in the 2015 AFL Draft.
