AFL media personalities and fans alike have expressed confusion regarding the MRP ruling inconsistency over the weekend.

Luke Parker and Will Schofield both appeared to collect opponents on the chin with elbows - but the Match Review Panel didn't see it as such.

The Swans midfielder was able to accept a $1,000 fine as the incident was assessed as 'careless' with 'low impact'.

Schofield's incident, however, was determined to be a two-match sanction given it was 'intentional conduct'; meaning he can accept a one-match suspension.

Neither player had an applicable record that impacted their respective penalties.
