Melbourne star small defender Neville Jetta has signed a new three-year deal with the club.

Jetta was out of contract at the end of this season but the new contract means he will remain at AAMI Park until the end of 2021 at least.

The 28-year-old’s turnaround from being delisted and re-rookied at the end of 2013 to becoming an integral member of the Melbourne line-up has been remarkable.

Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney said the club was delighted to sign Jetta.

“Nev has been a consistent performer for us for a long period now and is a great example of resilience and maximising opportunities,” Mahoney said.

“A three-year deal is great reward for Nev's commitment to our club.”

Jetta has played 132 games for the Dees since debuting for them in 2009 and is now one of the competition’s most underrated defenders.
