Melbourne co-captain Jack Viney will make his long-awaited return to footy this weekend via the VFL.
Viney has been troubled by foot issues since late last season and has failed to feature in the Demons’ 2018 campaign to date.
But coach Simon Goodwin confirmed on Wednesday that the 24-year-old is set to take a huge step towards senior selection.
“Jack’s tracking great,” Goodwin said.
“He’s going to play footy this weekend, in the VFL. It’s a cautious approach - we considered bringing him back in the AFL, but we think this is the best decision.”
Viney will run out for Casey Demons against Box Hill Hawks on Sunday at Casey Fields.
