Melbourne forward Jake Melksham has been ruled out of the Demons’ clash with Gold Coast at the MCG on Sunday.

The former Bomber suffered a “very minor” hamstring strain against Adelaide last round but the club is hopeful he will only be sidelined for one game.

“It happened in the second quarter (against Adelaide), but he played out the match,” elite performance manager Dave Misson said.

“Even though Jake’s pulled up well, we don’t want to risk him this round.

“We’ll reassess him next week.”

Melksham has been one of the Demons’ most impressive players in 2018, as he enjoys arguably a career-best year which has seen him average 15 disposals and boot 22 goals – ranking him third on the Dees’ goalkicking this year behind Jesse Hogan (42) and Tom McDonald (40).
