Melbourne midfielder Clayton Oliver is free to play against Fremantle this weekend after being cleared by the match review officer.

Michael Christian viewed Oliver’s tackle on St Kilda youngster Daniel McKenzie as below the force required for a charge.

The umpire paid a 50-metre penalty at the time and that was deemed to be a sufficient penalty.

North Melbourne ruckman Todd Goldstein has also avoided suspension for separate incidents involving Essendon pair Zach Merrett and Mark Baguley.

Christian deemed Goldstein’s hit on Merrett was made with force below that required for a charge.

The MRO also viewed Goldstein’s clash with Baguley as a legitimate attempt to spoil.

Goldstein’s teammate Ben Cunnington was also cleared of contact he made with Essendon forward Jake Stringer. Cunnington gave away a 50-metre penalty but Christian said that hit was also below the force required for a charge.

Fremantle star Michael Walters was also cleared of contact he made with Brisbane’s Rhys Mathieson.

Meanwhile, Port Adelaide duo Chad Wingard and Sam Powell-Pepper can accept $1000 fines for making careless contact with an umpire along with West Coast’s Jack Redden.

Adelaide captain Taylor Walker and St Kilda midfielder Jack Steele have been offered $1500 sanctions for misconduct against Eagles midfielder Luke Shuey and Oliver respectively.

And Gold Coast’s Brayden Crossley can accept a $2000 fine for rough conduct on Collingwood’s Brayden Maynard.
