Melbourne broke the record for the highest score in an AFLW match in their win over Fremantle at Casey Fields today.

The Dees kicked 11.4 (70) on their way to a resounding win over Freo, who could only muster 2.4 (16).

The winning margin of 54 points is only one shy of the previous highest score record, set by the Pies last weekend.

Heaps of Demons pigged out in the big win, with Deanna Berry, Alyssa Mifsud, Cat Phillips and Shelley Scott all booting two goals apiece.

Elise O’Dea and Daisy Pearce were immensely influential in the win, with O’Dea racking up 25 touches, five marks and seven tackles and Pearce 22 touches, three marks and three tackles.

Melbourne took control from early and blew the Dockers away, booting five goals in the first quarter.

At one point it looked like they might be the first AFLW team to score 100, but slowed down late.

The Dees needed all of the points they could get — they need to make up a huge percentage shortfall on Adelaide to make the Grand Final against Brisbane.

They currently sit about 17% behind the Lions.
