Training has been paused out at Casey Fields as Melbourne players and officials searched for a pair of front teeth.

Youngster Mitch Hannan had the chompers knocked out during a mishap at training, and the search has proven difficult.

The Herald Sun's Glenn McFarlane described the hunt on Twitter "like a needle in a haystack".

Hannan was selected by Melbourne at pick 46 after playing in last year's VFL premiership for Footscray.
