Melbourne debuted ex-professional basketballer Corey Maynard in their loss against GWS at Manuka Oval today.

Maynard played for Cairns Taipans and Townsville Crocodiles in the NBL before getting recruited by Melbourne as a category B rookie.

He joined a very small club of blokes who have played in both competitions:

But today Maynard set himself apart from the other five blokes in a unique way:

Amongst the other five blokes, Lisle played prior to the introduction of the three-point line in 1984 and Parsons only played one season with it in effect (and missed both of his attempts).

Meanwhile Crothers and Brogan never actually successfully made a 3-point shot, while Craig Moller didn’t kick a goal in his one game for Freo.

Pretty interesting stat, but unfortunately it didn’t help Melbourne: they capitulated badly against the Giants after kicking the first three goals, eventually going down 14.13 (97) to 10.2 (62).
