Melbourne players have met with the AFL Players Association to ask them to help get the club’s brutal pre-Christmas training camp called off, according to Fairfax Media.

Players were worried about the potential for injuries, after Christian Salem was concussed and Dom Tyson injured his knee on the previous years camp.

Salem was concussed after a brick in his backpack hit him while hiking, while Tyson suffered a partial dislocation of his patella tendon.

Dees players met with the AFLPA for advice on how to deal with the situation with the club, according to Farfax.

Players were subjected to sleep deprivation that included being woken in the middle of the night and give tasks, among other tough tactics.

Melbourne are understood to be training normally up until Christmas.
