Gold Coast midfielder Michael Barlow has hit back at claims that Gary Ablett isn’t committed to the club.
Ahead of the Suns’ game against Carlton at Metricon Stadium, Barlow said that Ablett cops a lot of unnecessary criticism.
“He’s always gonna have a bit of a target on his back, Gaz,” Barlow said on Triple M’s coverage.
“It comes with being Gary Ablett I suppose.
“But yeah, his form… it’s just great to come over from another club and watch him from, but to be able to run out beside him is and be involved with him is amazing.”
Barlow said that Ablett’s unquantifiable qualities are highly influential too.
“The other things he’s doing out on the field, that leadership stuff, providing us a lot of grunt inside,” Barlow said.
“His commitment to the club can’t be questioned.”
Ablett and Barlow’s Suns have come roaring back in the third term, trailing 6.8 (58) to 6.9 (51) at three quarter time after trailing by as much as 29 points.
