Gold Coast midfielder Michael Barlow has suffered a terrible injury in their game against Carlton at Metricon Stadium.
Barlow was trying to break a Bryce Gibbs tackle on the Suns’ half forward flank when his ankle rolled underneath him, causing him to put weight through it as it was buckled.
Play had to be stopped for several minutes while a stretcher was arranged.
Barlow was then put on the medicart and given the green pain relief stick.
Watch the incident here, but beware — it’s graphic.
The injury is a bitter blow for Barlow, who missed a large chunk of his career with a badly broken leg.
The Suns trail Carlton 10.7 (67) to 11.10 (76) late in the last quarter.
