Melbourne star Jesse Hogan has succumbed to a left hamstring injury.

Hogan spent most of the second quarter off the field and down in the rooms.

Triple M's Dr Rohan White said the club had confirmed Hogan had injured his hamstring.

“We were a little perplexed,” he said.

“It’s been confirmed that it is his left hamstring. He laboured trying to get off the field, trying to keep up with his teammates.

“Real bad news for Jesse Hogan...that's three to four weeks' recovery."

It is yet another setback for the star, who has only recently return from a broken collarbone sustained against North Melbourne.

He has previously missed games with testicular cancer, as well as an early-season suspension.

Triple M’s Brian Taylor said, if Melbourne made finals, Hogan may not feature.

"That’s finals gone,” he said.

"He might be available for prelim final week…that is a huge blow for the Melbourne Football Club."
