Less than 24 hours after being named, Fremantle skipper Nat Fyfe has pulled out of AFLX.

The Dockers won't risk Fyfe on Thursday, with youngster Tom North coming into the squad to replace him.

AFL media manager Patrick Keane confirmed the news of Fyfe's absence.

"The AFL advises Nat Fyfe has withdrawn from Fremantle's squad for Thursday's AFLX matches in Adelaide and has been replace by Tom North," he wrote on Tuesday morning.

Fremantle general manager of football operations Chris Bond confirmed Fyfe would miss to manage his workload.

“We reviewed Nat’s training data after yesterday’s training session and it was decided to manage his workload ahead of him playing in round one of the JLT Series,” he told the club's website.

Fyfe was the biggest name in the first batch of squads released for AFLX, with the likes of Michael Walters, Jack Watts, Robbie Gray, Mitch Duncan, Tom Hawkins and Steele Sidebottom all named.

Most teams have opted to field youth, with Liam Duggan - who has played 46 games - named to skipper a young West Coast squad.
