Triple M Footy’s Nathan Brown reckons Collingwood should never play midfielder Daniel Wells or forward Chris Mayne ever again.

Both players crossed to the Holden Centre on big-money contracts at the end of 2016, but have only managed 13 games between them since becoming Magpies.

Browny believes that playing them from now on would ‘disrupt’ the development of Collingwood’s younger players.

“I wouldn’t go down that path,” Browny said of selecting Wells during The Midweek Rub on Triple M’s Rush Hour.

“Where is that going to get them? He’s injured all the time, you can’t rely on Daniel Wells to play week in, week out.

“When he is in the team, yes he is a very good quality player but I see him missing more footy than not and I think it disrupts what they are as a footy club.

“I don’t think they need Daniel Wells. I don’t think he’s going to be part of their next premiership or the next finals series. I think they need to start blooding the youngsters.”

Browny believes Wells’ litany of injuries in recent years are as a result of him not being as fit as he needs to be.

“He would have to show some unbelievable signs coming back for me to play him week in, week out,” the former Bulldogs and Richmond star said. “He’d have to be over and above what I’d expect.”

Regarding Mayne, Brown said: “I wouldn’t play him again either.”
