St Kilda recruit Nathan Freeman has had a big day on his return from injury to the Saints’ VFL affiliate Sandringham Zebras.

Freeman amassed 31 touches, seven marks and four tackles in the Zebras’ 18.11 (119) to 8.7 (55) loss to Box Hill.

Freeman has famously had significant injury problems during his whole career, being unable to make his senior debut due to chronic hamstring issues.

He most recently injured the hammy during training in February.

Freeman was initially taken by Collingwood with pick 10 in the 2013 draft, before being traded to St Kilda in the 2015 trade period.

A frustrated Dyson Heppell has told Triple M that players who aren’t playing the “Essendon game style” can “go back to the twos”.
