Melbourne co-captain Nathan Jones is a huge chance of claiming outright second spot on the club’s all-time games played list next year.

Jones is currently equal fourth with the legendary Jim Stynes on 264 games and only has Adem Yze (271) and another pair of club champions in Robbie Flower (272) and David Neitz (306) ahead of him.

The 30-year-old is also well on track to eventually overtake Neitz as the club’s games record holder, needing just another 43 games to do so. And that is attainable given he has played a minimum of 21 games in 10 of his 13 seasons.

However, Neitz’s status as the club’s all-time leading goalkicker isn’t under threat anytime soon.

The two-time All-Australian booted 631 majors for the Dees and is 501 clear of Jones (130) who has kicked the most goals for Melbourne of all the current Demons.
