Young North Melbourne forward Nick Larkey will wear No.20 from next year.

The jumper was last worn by star key forward Drew Petrie who played 316 games and kicked 428 goals in it – both of which are records for the club.

Another former club great in Wayne Schimmelbusch also wore the number with distinction from 1973 to 1987.

Larkey, who was drafted at pick No.73 last year, wore No.40 in his first year in the AFL this season.

He debuted in round 18 and played two games in total.

The Kangaroos have also announced this week that Majak Daw (one) and Jy Simpkin (12) will wear new numbers in 2018.
