Nick Riewoldt May Miss More Than First Expected

Nick Riewoldt may miss more than just this round to give his knee some rest, according to Damian Barrett.

Riewoldt was rested this week and will miss next week with St Kilda having a bye, to give his knee some time to heal.

"The Saints have decided, and they announced this officially last night when they left him out of the team to play the Bulldogs on Saturday, to give him the rest before the bye," Barrett said on the Friday Huddle.

Barrett said, though, that he may miss more than two weeks of action.

"I believe then, Howie, after that bye period when they reconvene leading into the next round, they'll probably make another assessment then," he said.

"It's possible he might have one, and even two more (weeks) off from then."

He believes it'll help preserve Riewoldt for a possible September tilt.

"I think it's a smart move. Certainly for him to get through the course of the season."
