St Kilda champion Nick Riewoldt has confirmed he has not torn his ACL.

Riewoldt posted a message on Instagram this morning, revealing there is no structural damage to his knee.

"Thumbs up! Scans revealed no structural damage," he wrote on Sunday morning.

"No timeframe for return but prognosis good...thanks for the well wishes."

Riewoldt later confirmed to Channel 9 there is bone bruising in his knee, which will "have to settle".

Riewoldt hyperextended his knee changing direction late in yesterday's clash with Melbourne.

The 34-year-old went down in immediate pain, later admitting he "heard a pop", with footy fans fearing the worst.

He was stretchered off to a standing ovation from St Kilda and Melbourne fans alike.

Riewoldt was later seen walking around in the rooms, where he underwent a positive structural test from St Kilda's medical team.
