North Melbourne defender Aaron Mullett has been ruled out of the Kangaroos’ meeting with Adelaide in Tasmania on Saturday.

Mullett fractured the fourth metacarpal in his right hand during North’s 13-point win against Gold Coast at Etihad Stadium on the weekend.

The 25-year-old will have a plate inserted in his hand on Monday afternoon and there is a chance he will also miss the Kangaroos’ round eight meeting with Sydney.

“After the procedure, it will simply be a matter of allowing the wound enough time to heal before he can return. We anticipate that will only be one to two weeks at the most,” North Melbourne doctor Peter Baquie said.

Mullett has played every game so far this year, averaging 22 touches.
