North Melbourne's record in close games is pretty forgetful.

Last night it got even worse.

The Roos lost in another nail biter, going down by five points at the hands of Fremantle, making it their third loss by under a kick in five games this season.

"Yeah, it’s frustrating for everyone," coach Brad Scott said after the match.

"Probably not the least our supporters but our players are hurting more than anyone.

"They’re not getting the reward for effort for most of the game, not executing the way we want when it really matters...it’s getting frustrating."

As it turns out, there's a fair historical trend to North Melbourne's inability to close out games.

Ever since Scott joined North Melbourne at the start of 2010, the Roos have played 18 games that have been decided by under a goal.

They've won a grand total of three.

Only GWS has a worse record, albeit over a smaller sample - they are 0-3 when the margin is under a goal.

It's a forgettable record, and one that has seen a potential 3-2 start for North Melbourne turn into 0-5.
