Geelong star Patrick Dangerfield has responded a cheeky dig that former Adelaide teammate Josh Jenkins had at him in the press last week.

Jenkins said he relished the opportunity to play Dangerfield’s Cats in a prelim and that he’d have some material lined up for the reigning Brownlow Medallist.

“If he marches into town with his Geelong teammates there’ll be nothing better than beating him and reminding him that perhaps he should have stuck around with us and he could be a Brownlow Medallist and a premiership player,” Jenkins said last week.

Dangerfield wasn’t entirely thrilled with the banter from his old mate.

“Getting rather ahead of himself the great man isn’t he?” Dangerfield said.

“I wasn’t thrilled about it… Mind you I do know JJ obviously extremely well.

“The great thing about JJ is that he calls it as he sees it, he never sugarcoats anything or toes the party line… we’ve got too many players that are too nervous to voice their true feelings, but I’m looking forward to matching up on him this week.”

Dangerfield expects to be sledged by the Crouch brothers but says the main sledger will be missing.

“One of my favourites unfortunately won’t be there in Brodie Smith,” Danger said.

“He has a wicked tongue. He’s very good on the lip.”
