Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield is set to miss round one of the AFL season, according to the Herald Sun's Scott Gullan.

Dangerfield is reported to have suffered a hamstring injury.

He limped off the field in the Cats' JLT clash with Essendon in Colac after pulling up short from kicking a ball.

Danger had been playing while prior to the injury, amassing 12 touches.

Hamstring injuries tend to have three week turnarounds, meaning Dangerfield is highly unlikely to line up for the Cats in their season opener against Melbourne on Sunday the 25th of March.

It's not the only injury issue for the Cats, with ruckman Rhys Stanley also off injured early in the Cats 15.7 (97) to 15.11 (101) loss.

Essendon players Martin Gleeson and David Zaharakis both suffered what appeared to be ankle injuries as well.
