On The Sunday Rub former Melbourne coach Paul Roos took aim at the AFL laws committee in regards to the ruck nomination rule, saying it’s an “embarrassment” that they put the rule in place.

Roosy’s criticism of the rule came after of the controversial decision against Melbourne’s Angus Brayshaw for blocking Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield in the second quarter of last nights game.

“It’s an embarrassment to our game that you have to have two people (nominate for a ruck contest),” Roosy said.

“It’s an embarrassment for the laws committee to put that rule in place… What is it under twelves?”

Former North Melbourne great Wayne Carey agreed with Roosy saying that rule was a blight on our game, as well as Triple M Footy’s Jay-Z Clark saying it’s “the most stinking rule in the AFL at the moment”.
