Port Adelaide veteran Lindsay Thomas and Hawthorn firebrand James Sicily have both been referred directly to the tribunal by match review officer Michael Christian.

Thomas was reported on Saturday night for his head-high hit on Scott Selwood which left the Geelong midfielder unable to take any further part in the match.

And Sicily has been adjudged to have made “serious misconduct” against North Melbourne’s Shaun Atley.

Meanwhile, Hawthorn ball magnet Tom Mitchell’s Brownlow Medal hopes are still in tact after he was fined $1500 for his off-the-ball hit on North Melbourne ruckman Todd Goldstein.

In a busy match for Thomas, he was offered a one-week suspension for striking Cats captain Joel Selwood, but the former Kangaroo was cleared of making serious contact with Geelong youngster Jack Henry as it was deemed to have been contact to the chest.

Joel Selwood didn’t escape Christian’s attention, though, as he was also banned for a week for striking Thomas. He was also fined $1000 for attempting to trip Port Adelaide's Chad Wingard.

Hawthorn’s Ryan Burton was cleared of his collision with Shaun Higgins which left the North Melbourne star concussed and needing to be sent to hospital.

The contact was deemed to be between Burton’s shoulder and Higgins’ chest, with an accidental clash of heads.

It was Christian's view that Burton bumped to the body and could not have reasonably foreseen a clash of heads.

In other incidents, Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield ($2000) and North Melbourne youngster Cameron Zurhaar ($2000) were offered fines for engaging in rough conduct against Port Adelaide’s Justin Westhoff and Hawthorn’s David Mirra respectively.

North Melbourne backman Majak Daw ($1500) and Gold Coast midfielder Touk Miller ($1500) can accept fines for misconduct against Hawthorn’s Daniel Howe and Brisbane’s Dayne Zorko respectively.

Fines were also dished out to Hawthorn youngster James Cousins ($1000) and Gold Coast’s Jesse Lonergan ($2000) for making careless contact with an umpire and striking Brisbane’s Alex Witherden respectively.

Finally, GWS ruckman Dawson Simpson was cleared of making head-high contact with St Kilda’s Jack Newnes.

Christian deemed Simpson was seeking to contest the ball and had no realistic alternative way to contest the ball.
