The crowd at the Adelaide Oval for tonight's preliminary final is a record for the venue.

53,817 people turned out to see the Crows defeat the Cats and progress into the 2017 AFL Grand Final.

The previous record was 53,698 at the Showdown in Round 3 earlier this season.

There is a slight loophole to this record, with 54,468 turning out to the 2015 Showdown but this figure included staff and has since been scrapped as the record.
