St Kilda's chief operating officer Ameet Bains appears set to switch clubs, joining the Western Bulldogs and becoming their new CEO.

Multiple reports have surfaced suggesting Bains will be announced as the replacement for interim chief executive officer Gary Kent.

Kent announced late in the season that he would step away from the role, filling the position on an interim basis until the Western Bulldogs could lock in a permanent replacement.

Bains, who has a double degree in law and banking/finance, joined the Saints in 2011 after a career in the VAFA, becoming their general manager of player list and legal affairs.

He was then promoted to the position of chief operating officer midway through the 2014 season, becoming the number two man at the Saints.

"I certainly have strong ambitions over time to take on more senior roles within a football club," he told afl.com.au at the time.

"I think in terms of my corporate background I've got a variety of skills that over time would be beneficial in other parts of the organisation.

"I've been very fortunate with the opportunities I've got at St Kilda to date and continue to get."

He will become the Bulldogs' fourth chief executive in the last three seasons.
