Richmond ruckman Toby Nankervis and Essendon midfielder Zach Merrett have both had their days ended due to concussion in the Richmond v Essendon JLT clash in Wangaratta.

Nankervis hit his head on the turf in the first quarter of the match and was attended to on the sidelines.

Initial concerns were for Nankervis’s arm but he was cotton-wooled due to concussion.

Nankervis was withdrawn midway through the second quarter.

Essendon midfielder Zach Merrett has also been unable to play on after a concussion after copping a stray elbow from Kamden Macintosh in the first quarter.

Nankervis’s hasn’t slowed the Tigers momentum, they lead the Bombers 8.6 (54) to 3.4 (22) at half time.
