One Richmond fan died after an asthma attack following Richmond's grand final win three weeks ago.

The Herald Sun reported Richmond fan Alexander Pappos, who was cheering on the Tigers alongside his father Manuel, had dismissed what he thought was a mild asthma attack.

It worsened as the game went on, to the point where the 41-year-old owner of Slate Restaurant & Bar in Melbourne's CBD collapsed moments after the win.

He was rushed to hospital after paramedics took 17 minutes to revive him, but suffered a cardiac arrest on the way, passing away six days later.

“Nobody could believe what happened,” best mate Tyson Young told the Herald Sun.

“So passionate about everything he did that he refused to leave the game until his Tigers won the flag.”

Pappos donated his organs to multiple people.

Slate Restaurant & Bar posted a farewell earlier this month on Facebook.

"It is with the heaviest hearts that we said good bye to Alex last Thursday," they wrote.

"The family would like to thank all those who have offered their support and love in this very difficult time."
