Richmond expects Dustin Martin to be fine to play this week after his calf complaint.

Martin missed round 12 against Port Adelaide with a calf injury, breaking a streak of 85 consecutive games.

Richmond’s physical performance manager Peter Burge said on Tuesday Martin is now running with soreness or concern, saying he is expected to be fine to play this weekend against Geelong.

“Dustin’s great. He had a good running session yesterday and he’s symptom free," he told Roar Vision.

Burge said it was the short break that held the Brownlow Medallist back.

"He just needed an extra day or two from the soreness of last week," he said.

"Unfortunately, with the six-day break, we just got caught a tiny bit short.

"So he’ll be fine for this week. We expect him to train all week and play."
