Rockliff Opens Contract Talks

Positive for the Lions

Brisbane star midfielder Tom Rockliff has opened contract negotiations with the Lions.

The former Brisbane captain has enjoyed a blistering start to the season averaging 30 disposals and 10 clearances a game in 2017.

Unfortunately Rockliff's season is on hold after receiving a shoulder injury in Round 8 against Hawthorn.

This is welcomed news for Brisbane as the former All-Australian looked as good as gone at the end of last season.

Rockliff also lost the captaincy to Dayne Beams over the off-season when new coach Chris Fagan started at the club.

The Lions have a recent history of not retaining early draft selections and star players so a player of Rockliff's calibre looking to recommit is a very positive sign.

Rockliff will be a free agent at the end of the season meaning he has the right to walk out on the Lions if he chooses to.

Rockliff, who is from Benalla in Victoria, has played 142 games for Brisbane since debuting in 2009.
