Triple M Digital’s Ronny Lerner believes St Kilda were the big winners of round 16 following their incredible performance against Richmond at Etihad Stadium.
The Saints headed into the game as underdogs but they stunned the footy world by scoring 15 of the first 16 goals to open up an 87-point lead early in the third quarter on Saturday night.
St Kilda took the foot off the pedal in the second half to eventually win by 67 points.
The Saints are now seventh on the ladder with the same amount of wins as Richmond (nine) who are sixth and just 1.3 percent ahead of the Saints.
“No one in their right mind could have foreseen what was going to happen on Saturday night,” Ronny said.
“It brought back memories of the Geelong-Richmond game from 2007.”
St Kilda now prepare for another huge clash against Essendon at Etihad Stadium on Friday night.
The Bombers are in 10th spot and just a game outside the top eight.
