Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury has been forced to miss Collingwood’s last pre-season match against Richmond today at Ted Summerton Recreational Reserve in Moe.

Pendlebury tried to get up for the match but had to miss due to Achilles tightness.

"He prepared himself to play, he was ready to go, but he did a warm-up away from the group half an hour before the proper warm-up and didn’t feel quite right," David King reported on Fox Footy.

"He had some tightness in that achilles, which is a major alarm 13 days away from Round 1. It’s a huge concern.

"He was ready to play and preparing to play, but he hasn’t been given the green light by doctors and the medical staff."

It’s one of four outs for the Pies, who have Josh Thomas, Levi Greenwood and Matt Scharenberg missing as well.

Ben Reid and Josh Smith come in.

It's a major blow for the Pies whose injury list also features Jamie Elliott, Daniel Wells and Jordan de Goey.

It’s the Pies’ last hit out before their season starts against the Western Bulldogs at the MCG on Friday 24th March.
