Scott Pendlebury says he may find it a “challenge” to return this year after having surgery on a broken finger.

Pendlebury went under the knife twice to repair the finger he broke against Gold Coast.

The Collingwood skipper joined the Sunday Rub and said the first round of surgery didn’t go as planned.

“I’ve got wires in it now,” he said on Triple M.

“The x-ray showed two clean breaks. They went in and the surgeon just said the bone was shattered, so we had to piece 15 bits back together.

“We didn’t get it right. The screw that went through the bone broke that bone.

“It didn’t go well.”

Pendlebury said he was touch and go to return this season.

“It’s going to be a challenge,” he said,

“Hopefully I can get back for the last game of the year. We’ll see how I go."
