Essendon has some genuine concern for Josh Begley's knee as one of two Bombers ruled out prior to half time against Essendon.

Begley's right knee buckled gathering the ball in the first term, which saw him removed from the game.

Triple M's Dr Rohan White was "pessimistic" and said the nature of the injury led him to be worried about the anterior cruciate ligament, which could rule Begley out for the season.

"Not good news for Josh Begley, getting that ice on his right knee," he told Triple M.

"We saw him buckle that knee, and he certainly put the ACL under a lot of stress. I'm very concerned."

The Bombers will also be without forward Josh Green for the remainder of the game.

Green tried to play on after suffering a corked hamstring in the first term, but was unable to continue.

Our man Brian Taylor dropped into the Triple M box ahead of the Anzac Day clash...and gave everyone a searing hot blowtorch!
