Hawthorn veteran Shaun Burgoyne will miss a month of footy with a hamstring injury.

Scans have revealed Burgoyne's hamstring injury, which he copped in the third quarter against Gold Coast, was worse than initially expected.

“He’s pulled up pretty well, but the scan that we did yesterday showed that he is probably going to miss around four weeks,” Hawthorn director of high performance Andrew Russell said.

“It’s probably a little bit worse than we first imagined when he came off.

“He had some signs, and we knew he had a low-grade hamstring injury at the time, but the scan suggested it is a little bit worse.”

Jack Gunston is expected to play after copping a corked calf in the opening minute.
