St Kilda father-son selection Bailey Rice will make his debut this weekend.

The Saints confirmed on Thursday Rice will follow in his father Dean's footsteps and play his first game on Saturday night against Collingwood.

He will be the club's second debut in two weeks, following Ed Phillips last weekend.

St Kilda coach Alan Richardson praised Rice for his high standard of form down back.

“You’ve been really strong now for a good period of time, and from our perspective, you’re ready to go,” he said.

“I reckon your teammates would be really pleased that you’re in for many reasons.

“The main reason would be because of how tough you are, and how consistent you are in the contest. You very rarely get beaten, and you stay composed.”
