St Kilda has reportedly dropped out of the race for Fremantle champion Nat Fyfe.

The Saints were considered a contender for the out-of-contract Fyfe but are now no longer in the running, according to a report in the Herald Sun by Triple M's Jay Clark.

It would only increase the likelihood of the Fremantle skipper staying at the club beyond this season.

The report suggests the Saints will instead set themselves on other targets, including GWS star Josh Kelly.

Kelly has become one of the hottest commodities in footy, becoming one of the game's better midfielders in 2017.

He has been also been courted by North Melbourne, who have offered him a nine-year, $9 million deal.

St Kilda have a first-round pick plus Hawthorn's first-round pick, which wound help them land a target like Kelly instead.

Fyfe hasn't been at his game-breaking best in 2017, averaging 26 disposals a game and kicking seven goals across 10 matches.
