St Kilda could achieve something they haven’t done in almost half a century if everything goes to plan for them on Friday night against Essendon.

The Saints have won their last three meetings with the Bombers, but they haven’t strung four together against them since 1971.

If St Kilda are victorious at Etihad Stadium this week, they would record four consecutive wins against Essendon for the first time in 46 years.

The Saints are also aiming to win five games in a row for the first time since 2011.

It promises to be a blockbuster encounter in front of a packed house.

If seventh-placed St Kilda win they could enter the top four and Essendon could drop from 10th to as low as 14th.

But a win for the Bombers could see them rise to eighth and the Saints slip to as low as ninth.
