St Kilda defender Dylan Roberton could be sidelined for the next two weeks as he continues his recovery from a scary on-field collapse on Sunday which was caused by an irregular heartbeat.

Roberton fell to the ground with nobody around him during the Saints’ 47-point loss to the Cats at Kardinia Park and was forced to miss the rest of the game.

He was able to leave the field of play under his own volition but spent the night in hospital undergoing tests.

"In the short-term, he'll have a number of different tests and each of those results will dictate where he goes thereafter," Saints football manager Simon Lethlean told reporters at Moorabbin on Monday.

"There'll be no exercising in the meantime, so at least a one- or two-week lay-off and we'll see how it is."

Roberton will head home on Monday evening and will sit out St Kilda’s meeting with GWS this Saturday at a minimum.
