Paddy McCartin’s wretched run with injury has continued with the St Kilda key forward suffering a mid-foot strain on Monday.

McCartin will be on a modified program for the next month of pre-season training but is expected to return to full training after Christmas.

The former No.1 draft pick has only managed 22 games in three seasons, having already suffered four concussions – the last of which sidelined him for the second half of 2017.

McCartin also broke his collarbone in round 23, 2016.

With an improved fitness base, the 22-year-old has been one of the early standouts of the Saints’ pre-season.
