St Kilda had a banner all lined up for Gary Ablett's 300th game.

But, just like Gold Coast's commemorative guernsey and this week's AFL Record, it all fell through.

Ablett was withdrawn from Gold Coast's side on Friday with a calf injury, short of his 300th game against St Kilda.

So it forced St Kilda's cheer squad to do a re-think.

The Saints had 'happy 300th Gary' on their banner, and instead slapped a '299th' over the top.

"Got to give credit where credit's due, happy 299th Gary, we'll dedicate our song to you," the banner read.
