Eyebrows were raised when Collingwood recruited 32-year old Daniel Wells on a lucrative three-year deal over the pre-season.

But the statistics from 2017 show that the Magpies are a superior outfit when he lines up in the black & white.

Injuries have meant that Wells - who debuted on Anzac Day in Round 5 - has only managed to play 6 of Collingwood's 12 games this season.

Here is the record so far:

Collingwood WITH Daniel Wells

4 wins-2 losses, 117%, 102 average points for.

Collingwood WITHOUT Daniel Wells

1 win-5 losses, 86%, 76 average points for.

Wells was averaging 21.2 disposals per game and 1.0 goals before he was once again struck down by injury in Round 11 against Fremantle.

Last week, Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley said that his big-name recruit would miss "at least a month" with his latest setback.

But if the record is anything to go by, they'll sure want him back sooner rather than later.
