Western Bulldogs superstar Marcus Bontempelli has insisted on Triple M’s Monday Rub that his club is not in a state of crisis.

The Bulldogs have made a disastrous start to the 2018 season, with heavy losses to Greater Western Sydney and West Coast by 82 and 51 points respectively ensuring they will be last on the ladder after round two.

Issues surrounding team selection and a very public feud between head honchos Peter Gordon and Susan Alberti have also plagued the club, but Bontempelli was adamant the playing group are “united and strong”.

“No, there’s no crisis,” the premiership star said.

“There’s certainly been no fracturing from a playing group point of view at all.

“We’re still as united and as strong as we have been but we know we’ve got such a challenge ahead of us.

“So the continual effort from every single person at the club is required for us to get things back on track and continue to forge towards making an impact throughout this season.”

Bontempelli was confident that the Bulldogs wouldn’t be a bottom side in 2018.

“Definitely not. We’re an optimistic bunch,” he said.
