Emerging Sydney ruckman Darcy Cameron has signed a contract extension with the club keeping him there until 2019.

The young gun featured in the Swan JLT Community Series preseason fixtures but injury has held him back from a senior AFL debut.

Cameron has suffered an infected finger and has battled a shoulder injury in the early stages of the 2017 season.

Cameron was drafted with Pick 48 in the National draft and has bolstered the Swans ruck stocks.

The young gun told AFL.com.au that he's continuing to work hard on his game in a bid to impress the Swans' coaching staff.

"They've been happy with my marking and ruck work, and that sort of thing, but I just need to lift my intensity around the contest, and work on my tackling and aggression," he said.

Cameron is in competition with Callum Sinclair, Sam Naismith and incumbent Kurt Tippett for a place in the senior team.
