Sydney champion Lance Franklin looks set to become just the ninth player in VFL/AFL history to boot 900 career goals in season 2018.
The two-time premiership superstar is currently on 860 majors and sits 10th on the all-time goalkickers list.
He needs just another 15 goals to overtake former Collingwood champion Peter McKenna (874) and could quite easily surpass Leigh Matthews (915) and Matthew Lloyd (926) next year if he boots at least 67 goals, which he has done eight times in his 13-year career.
Franklin has failed to boot 40 goals in a year only twice meaning, barring serious injury, he looks destined to join the very exclusive 900-goal club next year.
The only other players who have kicked 900 goals are Matthews, Lloyd, Jack Titus (970), Gary Ablett senior (1030), Doug Wade (1057), Jason Dunstall (1254), Gordon Coventry (1299) and Tony Lockett (1360).
Franklin could quite easily become just the sixth player in history to boot 1000 goals in 2019 or 2020.
